MISSION

UNDERSTANDING IS MORE THAN JUST KNOWING. IT IS MORE THAN ADAPTING COLD FACTS AS IT CARRIES VALUES WITH IT.

By Glasshouse Helsinki

When viewing the world around us, listening the turmoil thoughts of the people, it is obvious, that we are in crossroads of our future. Climate change is reality, pandemic showed, how vulnerable the whole system is. Geopolitical powers are shaking all societies.

After decades of unsustainable expansion, there is an urge for course of correction. On macro level – the political, economic, social and ethical change needs to happen at the same time.

"Values based on stakeholder strategy includes and covers the whole ecosystem."

Interactions are dynamic sequences for solving the problems we are facing. Encounters are happening. On micro level – individuals, institutions and companies are restructuring their strategies. They are judging the brands, experiences and themselves in a whole new light.

For moving forward, it is crucial to rethink the business strategies on all layers. Rather than optimizing the shareholder value, the focus starts moving towards to strengthening the stakeholder values. Values based on stakeholder strategy includes and covers the whole ecosystem, environment, employees, clients, shareholders, partners, everyone who works for us and with us. All being equally important.

There is a momentum to connect the dots and build a concept with a holistic view on sustainability. A view, where the business, creativity and design serve the needs and purpose of sustainability.

Glasshouse Helsinki wants to be a mentor, advisor and the energy for the change.

Students explored the idea of origins from different perspectives ranging from cultural and ethnic origins to personal histories, to the origins of humanity, Earth, and the universe.

Experimental light installations and lamps made out of concrete

Heavy, big, ugly, rough, vague, grey, hard… These are often the first attributes we relate to concrete. The design students from Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture are challenging these established conventions of concrete as material by trying to combine concrete and light.
